How to Set Up WordPress Parent Pages
WordPress pages can be grouped together under a main published parent page. A parent page helps readers find information easily on your website and categorizes your pages. Here’s how to set up parent pages on WordPress.
Set a Parent Page from Pages View
You can set a parent page from page view by following these steps:
- Go to the admin dashboard.
- Select Pages from the menu sidebar.
- From the Pages list, hover the mouse over the page you’d like to place under a parent page and click Quick Edit.
- With the Quick Edit panel open, click the Parent drop-down menu to select from a list of the published pages. Click Update once complete.
Set a Parent Page from Page Draft
You can set a parent page from a page’s draft view by following these steps:
- Go to the admin dashboard.
- Select Pages from the menu sidebar on the left.
- From the Pages list, hover the mouse over the page you’d like to edit and select Edit or click on the Page Title.
- Within the page draft view, use the settings page panel on the right to access the Page Attributes. If the settings panel isn’t open, click the White Notebook Icon on the right-hand corner.
- Under Page Attributes at the bottom, select the Empty Block and choose from the list of published available parent pages. Once selected, you can choose which order the page shows up in the website’s navigation menu by changing the Order number.
- Once done, select Update or Save Draft to save changes.
