How to Get a Michigan Certificate of Good Standing
You can order a certificate of good standing in Michigan online, by mail, by phone, or in person, but we recommend ordering online. Online processing takes about 3 days and costs $10. The price is the same for mailed and phone orders, but in both cases you’ll need to factor in additional time for mailing documents and payments. In-person orders add on a $2.50 expedite fee, which will get your order processed by the end of the next business day.

Go to Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) website and follow the website’s instructions to complete an online Order Request Form and pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
By Phone:
Call the Corporations Division at (517) 241-6470. Once your phone order is processed, you’ll receive an invoice and can pay by check or money order (made payable to the State of Michigan).
By Mail:
Submit form CSCL/CD-274 by mail to LARA, Corporations Division, PO Box 30054, Lansing, MI 48909. In this case, you will pay by check or money order as well.
In Person:
Visit the Corporations Division in person at 2501 Woodlake Circle, Okemos, MI 48864. You will pay an additional $2.50 for expedited counter service, and you can pay by cash, check, money order, or credit card.
How much does a Michigan Certificate of Good Standing cost?
The fee for a certificate of good standing is $10 for requests made online, by mail, or by phone. In-person requests cost $12.50 ($10 plus a $2.50 expedite fee).
Is expedited processing available?
Yes, but only for in-person requests, and it comes to 25% of your total cost. This is the additional $2.50 added on when you make your request at the counter in person.
Payment options?
Orders totaling $100 or more require a 50% deposit. Otherwise, the state will either send you an invoice (for requests made by mail or phone), or you’ll make the payment when you place your order if you submit your request online.
For online orders, you can pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). For requests made by mail or by phone, you will pay be either check or money order (made payable to the State of Michigan). For in-person requests, multiple payment options are available: cash, check, money order, and credit card.
How long does it take the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to issue a Certificate of Good Standing?
