New York Office Of Mental Health Approval
If your non profit plans to raise funds for the benefit of suicide prevention programs, or mental retardation and related disabilities, you will need a signed consent letter from the Office of Counsel for the New York State Office of Mental Health (NYS OMH).
How do I receive approval?
Address a business letter to Deputy Commissioner and Chief Counsel, asking for official department approval for your planned non profit organization. Explain the charitable goals and activities of your new charity, such as suicide prevention or support programs for post combat stress control for veterans. Indicate that you will not be conducting any clinical work, but only support fundraising. Include copies of your proposed certificate of incorporation and bylaws. Hire ‘Northwest’ as your New York registered agent and find all resources needed for a New York non profit. Or you may use our free request letter template here.
