How do I change my LLC name in New Jersey?
To change the name of an LLC registered in the state of New Jersey, you will have to update your New Jersey LLC Articles of Organization. As your record with the state, your articles of organization must be kept current. Changing any business information that’s included in your articles will require you to file a New Jersey Certificate of Amendment.
NOTE: Before filing an amendment to change your LLC name, be sure to check the New Jersey Business Name Search to make sure your desired name is available.
How do I file a New Jersey LLC Certificate of Amendment?
To file an amendment for your New Jersey LLC, you’ll have to fill out Form L-102, Certificate of Amendment – Limited Liability Company. The form must include:
- Name of LLC
- LLC ID number (assigned by the New Jersey Division of Revenue upon formation)
- New LLC name
- Effective date
- Explanation of all details being amended (if more than your LLC name)
- Authorized signature
- $100 filing fee
