Changing Your LLC Address in Georgia
Q: What does the process entail for me to change my address on file with the Georgia Secretary of State?
Thanks to one of our customers for this great (and fairly popular!) question. It’s common for LLCs to change key information, like their name and/or address. In Georgia, changing an LLC address is often as simple as filing paperwork with the Georgia Secretary of State, Corporations Division and (possibly) getting in touch with the IRS. Here are the steps you’ll need to take:
1. Complete your Georgia Annual Registration
To change the address of your Georgia LLC, you can simply file your Annual Registration “with changes” and include your new address:
- Go to Georgia’s Annual Registration Form
- Select “Annual Registration with changes”
- Login, or “Create a User Account”
- Select “File Annual Registration”
- Enter the filing year, and type your business name into the search box
- Find your business name and:
- Click “Continue” (to file online – $50)
- Click “Continue to Print Annual Registration Form” (to file via paper – $60)
Can I change my Georgia LLC address by filing Articles of Amendment?
No. While some states require business owners to file an LLC amendment, Georgia’s Articles of Amendment (Form CD 115) are only used to change the name of an LLC—not its address.
What if my Georgia LLC address changes after I file my Annual Registration?
Then you can file Georgia’s Amended Annual Registration (Form CD 920). Be sure to include your LLC’s new address in Line 5.
NOTE: You can only file the Amended Annual Registration form if you’ve already submitted your Annual Registration for the current year.
How much does it cost to file Georgia’s Amended Annual Registration?
The filing fee is $20 (if online), or $30 (by regular mail).
How do I file Georgia Annual Registration / Amended Annual Registration?
Your Annual Registration and/or Amended Annual Registration can be filed online or by regular mail.

2. Update your Georgia LLC Operating Agreement
In addition to updating your business filing with the state, you’ll have to update your LLC address within your internal records—this means amending your Georgia LLC Operating Agreement. The process for changing your operating agreement should be stipulated in the operating agreement itself.
3. Contact the IRS to change your EIN
If changing your LLC address effectively changes the address the IRS has on-file for your business, you’ll need to submit Form 8822-B. This form can be used to change the name and/or contact information for the person associated with your business (the so-called “responsible party”), but it’s also used to change the business address connected to your EIN.
